Willandra National Park

Willandra appeals to lovers of nature and of heritage – it was once famous for its wool, and now offers a fascinating insight into our pastoral history. Vast, semi-arid riverine plains country comprising wetland and, grasslands that support wildflowers, kangaroos and emus, waterbirds, reptiles and frogs.

It’s a peaceful and secluded place ideal for photographers and artists, and history buffs will enjoy exploring the homestead and shearing complex of Willandra Creek.

Its coolibah and black box lined creek beds and abundant grasslands attract an assortment of wildlife including kangaroos, emus, and ground-nesting birds.

Activities include the Nilla Yannagalang Billana walking track, there are also three picnic and barbecue areas and places for cycling, fishing, canoeing and nature study.

Stay overnight in a choice of historic pastoral accommodation, camping is also available.

The park is located about 1 hour’s drive from Hillston on the Ivanhoe - Mossgiel Road along a dry weather road.
