Historic Daydream Mine was founded in 1881, before the beginning of the Broken Hill Mining Company (BHP). The mine is just a 40 minute drive from Broken Hill. Drive through some of Australia's great outback scenery into Apollyon Valley then take a one hour fully-guided underground and surface tour of the old mine workings to see how this mine once operated, mined by Cornish men and boys sorting the silver - some as young as eight years old. Devonshire teas, cold drinks and souvenirs are available. Sturdy, rubber-soled footwear is essential in accordance with the Department of Mines Safety Act. No EFTPOS or credit card facilities available. Underground and surface tours are available.
